💙My Story | A big believer in the power of compounding

A big believer in the power of compounding

I started trading Forex at just the age of 22 — and hasn’t looked back since!

In a world where traditional career paths often seem limiting, the pursuit of financial freedom has become a driving force for many young professionals. Allow me to introduce you to myself, hi, I am Balram Kashyap, engineer by degree and trader by profession. I am one the introverted kinds of whose journey into the world of forex trading led me to achieve financial independence and the freedom I had always yearned for.

My story is the one I’d like to say a trio of determination, education, and discipline. Despite finding success as an engineer, I harbored greater aspirations – financial independence, control over my time, and the freedom to explore the world.

Coming from a small town in India, set in the laps of Himalayas, I have always been a traveler and I would often daydream of a life without my day filled with meetings, project deadlines, and the constant pressure to excel. Each day, I would wake up early, often feeling like I'd barely slept at all. And, like every young professional I wanted to better for myself. So, I thought to myself “My friend got a job outside India, maybe doing a master’s degree would fulfil my financial ambitions”.

And there I was, pursing M. Tech fast-forward I landed myself into the same cycle of jobs affair. Job market is competitive no doubt. But, giving up wasn’t in my destiny either. After a long day at the office, I would return home, still eager to dive into my trading view charts and analyze my set-ups. The forex market, unlike my corporate job, never slept. It was a global marketplace that offered opportunities at all hours, making it accessible for someone with a demanding daytime commitment.

Every moment of disappointment, frustration and anxiety was rather a steppingstone than a setback for me, I guess.

My decision to enter the forex market was not made lightly and the 9-to-6 grind may have been physically and mentally draining, but it was also the source of the capital. Kid you not, I started with achieving minimal profits and minimal investment to test my set-ups and strategy. Made few losses, blew few accounts, felt terrible more than few times and thus, began an intense phase of self-education. I delved into books, attended online courses, and sought guidance from experienced traders.

Surprised?

I legit sat down on my bed, pulled my reading table close and a PDF with advanced trading strategy closer and pulled an all-nighterNext day, made a loss worth my month’s salary. And you think I would have given up or taken a break now?

Well, no. I am shameless. I gave another deposit request and started yet again. Every blue grew on me. Every profit made me dive deeper into the market. Two years into it I understood that successful forex trading required more than just technical analysis. It demanded a comprehensive understanding of economic indicators, market psychology, and meticulous risk management.

One of the fundamental lessons I learned during the phase was the importance of patience and discipline. I quickly discovered that emotions could be a trader's worst enemy. To mitigate it, I meticulously adhered to a trading plan, honed my risk management skills, and perpetually evaluated and adjusted strategies.

My key strength and motivation?

Resilience and adaptability were my key strengths. Like any trader, I experienced both winning streaks and periods of losses. However, I never allowed emotions to cloud my judgment. I wasn't afraid to alter the approach when market conditions shifted, demonstrating that adaptability is crucial to staying ahead in the ever-evolving forex market. Over time, I can proudly say dedication and persistence began to bear fruit. Remember when I blew my month’s salary? Now, I make that in a day or in a trade.

You must think ok he’s exaggerating now.

Let me tell you, while writing this blog I realized how some of you reading this would relate to every part of it. And that’s my answer to NO, I am not boasting. Trading is a method of transferring money from the impatient to the patient. And I stuck to being a patient person, have given 7 years of my life and I will continue doing so. At the age of 28, just four years into I forex trading journey, I have achieved what I had set out to do - he attained financial freedom. I accumulated wealth and, in the process, made a family of members of Price Action Trading Group.

The pursuit of financial independence doesn't always follow a linear path. Sometimes, it requires a willingness to step off the beaten track, learn from life's experiences, and embrace new opportunities, even if they don't align with conventional expectations.

Today as a I reveal my story to you, I also look back to remind myself and those of you who patiently read till the end that education, while valuable, is just one part of the equation; the rest lies in the choices we make and the dedication we bring to our aspirations.

The last years have been incredibly rewarding and upscaled myself to realize trading is a profession that has no one cheering you on and you are by yourself. And that is the truth of life.

"Life is a solitary journey, and the best companion you can have is yourself." - Ronna Wineberg

PS: Wondering why I’m hesitant to show my face?

Thanks to the scammers, the discussion groups are becoming a playground for them to copy and misguide beginners as well to be honest the advanced traders too.

However, as I end this, I’m happy to invite you to sip chai and enjoy parathas with me sometime!

With heartfelt gratitude,

Balram Kashyap
